Similar to Europeans, Costa Ricans have been studying English since the first grade. As a result, they have perfect English grammar skills and slight Hispanic sounding accents. However, it is equally common for the Costa Ricans to have North American accents as well, since a large percentage have spent time living abroad in the states. Datascension has implemented a requirement on it's interviewers that includes termination of employment if a respondent says, " I don't understand you, what did you say" or a variation of this. We also boast having English teachers on hand, so that an interviewer can be given the opportunity to get tutoring lessons in English pronunciation. In addition we want our introductions to sound as if we were dialing from Utah. In Costa Rica, 45% of the staff that we hire has North American accents (our "A employees), while 55% have slight
Hispanic Accents (B employees).
