Our
People: The Costa Ricans
Costa Rica has been known as being one of the most diplomatic and
educated countries in the world. Referred to as the Switzerland
of Latin America (both financially as well as politically), Costa
Rica has no military and instead has invested their tax dollars
in social programs for their people. In fact, Costa Ricans go to
College for free.
Compared to people in other Latin American countries, Costa Ricans are viewed
as having a more proper Spanish accent. It can be compared to an
American speaking with a British person. As a result, among the
US Hispanic and Latin American populations, Costa Rican response
rates top the charts.
Similar to Europeans,
Costa Ricans have been studying English since the first grade. They
have perfect English grammar skills and slight Hispanic sounding
accents. However, it is equally common for the Costa Ricans to have
North American accents as well, since a large percentage have spent
time living abroad in the states.
“Pura Vida” is the Costa Rican Mantra! It means, “Pure
Life”. Similar in nature to the Canadians, the Costa Ricans
are easy going, friendly, educated, and highly cultured. They are
the wealthiest country in Central America and yet, their attitude
towards foreigners can be described as open and respectful. While
traveling in Costa Rica, one feels very safe amongst these honest
and happy people!
In the US, a country that is becoming more and more Hispanic, Costa
Rica is the most sensible cost effective and quality solution as
a call center hub versus the Philippines, Canada, India, or even
Mexico.
